Q. What is your advice to those who malign the biṭānah (companions) of scholars and their ḥawāshī (associates), that they influence the scholars. Is this speech correct?
al- ʾAllāmah Ṣāliḥ al-Fawzān (حفظه الله) replied:
“This speech is falsehood! doubt and deception do not influence reputed scholars, and they are not influenced by their students and those who gather around them, rather on the contrary; their students are influenced by them, and everyone who attends to them is influenced by them. Therefore this speech which accuses the students of knowledge that they deceive the scholars and misguide them, this speech is falsehood and (a form of) deterrence from the devil.”
