A piece of advice by Shaykh Sālim Bāmeḥriz (حفظه ٱللّٰه) addressed to Ahl as-Sunnah, the Salafīs in Pakistan

In the name of Allah, the Most Beneficient, the Most Merciful. All praise is due for the Lord of the worlds. And may the choicest of praises and salutations be upon our Prophet Muhammad, upon his family and all his companions. To proceed…

I address this piece of advice to our Salafī brothers in the land of Pakistan – may Allāh protect all Islāmic lands -. And I advise them all to hold on to the Book of Allāh and the Sunnah of His Messenger ﷺ. And that they hold onto the methodology of Ahl as-Sunnah wal-Jamāʾah, the Salafīs, the Victorious Group, the People of Ḥadīth, they should hold onto them and their foundation which is the Book of Allāh and the Sunnah of His Messenger.

And they are upon that which the Messenger ﷺ, the Companions, the virtuous generations and those who came after them from the Salaf. Hold on to this great affair and be firm upon it and attain Sharʾī Knowledge because this Call does not befit except with knowledge and it is established upon knowledge.

And when we mention knowledge, then we intend the Book of Allāh and the Sunnah of His Messenger, and what branches off from it from the principles of Ahl as-Sunnah and the books of Ahl as-Sunnah. And it is upon them to be well-versed, learn and teach those around, for truly this Call cannot be established upon ignorance, rather it is established upon knowledge. Therefore, by attaining knowledge, the Call becomes blessed and bears good fruits.

And they should be patient upon harm. This is how the Messenger ﷺ was patient and the Prophets before him and those after them from the Righteous Predecessors. They were harmed in the cause of Allāh but they were patient. Therefore, they should forebare, be firm and give no attention (to the harm incurred). And they should be extremely heedful of splitting in the ranks – meaning the rank of Ahl as-Sunnah – and the Call towards revolting against the rulers and what is of it’s likes from that which the people of deviant groups revolve around. It is imperative to be heedful of all of them, that they infiltrate among you, or that an individual from among you propogates their speech, as they are an evil upon the Ummah.

And they should preserve the gathering of Ahl as-Sunnah wal-Jamāʾah and the Call towards it, and teach those around you, and spread the Call to the extent of your ability. Even if there is not among some of you but one or two, they should go to their brothers and teach them, this is tremendous good.

The Call cannot be established except by spreading knowledge. Advise people to be patient upon this methodology and to be firm upon it until they meet Allāh. This world is transient and all that which is in it is transient, and nothing will remain except that which was presented for the sake of Allāh the Exalted.

Therefore upon you is to be patient and be firm, and having good thoughts for Allah. You are upon good as long as you are upon this magnificent methodology and this blessed Call. So be firm may Allah bless you, and spread this Call just like the Prophets and the scholars after them, not through harm or through repression or yelling, rather through guiding knowledge which is based upon the principles, and through firmness and teaching people the Qurʾān, Sunnah, various forms of worship, various forms of dealings and various mannerisms. All of these are through which a person draws close to people’s hearts and through which the Call spreads.

I am speaking from Maktabah as-Salafiyyah, at our brothers’ here in Birmingham, with the noble Shaykh Abū Khadījah and his brothers the people who have knowledge and the mashayikh here. They requested this advice from me so I became happy to advise my brothers (in Pakistan). We ask Allāh that he facilitates for us to visit them and meet them one day. May Allah bless everyone, and reward you all with good. May Allāh preserve you upon that which He loves and is pleased with. as-Salāmu ʾalaykum wa raḥmatullāhi wa barakātuhu.
