Shaykh Ṣāliḥ bin Muḥammad Al-Luḥaydān (raḥimahullāh) said,
“I advise the student of knowledge to memorize of what he can in his memorization from the Sunnah. For truly beneficial knowledge which a person finds when he is in need of, then it is that which he has aquired from his memorization, because understanding is a branch of memorization.
If a person does not memorize anything then what is he going to understand? But if he has a portion memorized, then a person can review it with himself, every time his understanding falters, he reviews the words.”
